Three Class Bundle - Bezel, Claw and Flush Setting
Our Bezel Setting course is for jewellers looking to launch themselves into the world of stone setting, beginning with some entry-level techniques. The step up from jeweller to setter is still a leap, but one that is most definitely within your reach. In this class, you'll be shown how to set a 5mm stone into a 6mm setting using a burr to cut the seat. We'll get you introduced to things like how to sit, how to hold your push tool, and the best way to get these walls over. We will have you setting like a pro in no time!
Time to step it up and do some elite-level setting! Castle, and in particular, fishtail setting, are very much technical settings. There are strict step-by-step rules to follow, but don't be afraid of it! Once mastered, it is INCREDIBLY satisfying and a dream to do! You'll love it.
Claw setting is probably the most common way to set stones. But there are multiple ways to do it - the building of the setting, the shape of the claws, and how to actually finish them. In this tutorial, we'll show you how to not only set, but mount make for a double gallery setting. And the good thing about learning this technique is that it can be used for all sorts of shapes! This class will improve your all round abilities.
Flush setting is an excellent way to create a classic, crisp look with setting. Whether on its own or scattered around on a nice wide area, nothing beats a well-executed flush set stone. But do you REALLY know how to do it, and also make sure that stone is extra tight in there? Find out here!

If only everything was as easy to set as a round stone, eh? Using a lovely, sharp setting burr to cut a nice, round seat for your nice round stone. Drop it in, get the metal over, go ahead and finish. Aaahh, bliss. There ain’t no lovely sharp burr where we’re going. Hell, no. This is all done with your fair hands, using a wide variety of tools and techniques. This is old school, harking back to the days before everyone grew up with electric drills and pre-made burrs! This is proper, hand-made jewellery, skillfully cut out to the most accurate of margins and set to immaculate precision. There’s no hiding place here and an error can cause a fair bit of damage… but apart from all of that, it’s FUN!
Hurrah, hurrah, it's pavé! Classy, timeless with a helluva impact... what's not to love about this style of setting? But there's a great deal of technical processes here - back in the old days, we would raise the grain, then cut around that to finish. But that's not how we do it now! It's all about cutting metal away beforehand now and what you leave behind becomes a bead... much, much sharper and crisper. Want to learn how? Let's go!
